The following contracts have been awarded by LTA for the supervision teams headed by QP(S), Qualified Person - Supervision, to supervise the Downtown Line Phase 2 (DTL2) civil contracts. The supervision teams will include QP(Supervision), QP(Supervision) Representative, Senior Resident Engineer (SRE), Resident Engineer and Resident Technical Officers as per the requirements of the respective contracts.

Contracts Awarded for Downtown Line 2 (DTL2)

Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded several civil contracts for the construction of Downtown Line MRT Phase 2 (DTL2). DTL1 connects Chinatown to Bugis station with stops along upcoming Marina Bay developments like Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC) and Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resorts (MBSIR). DTL2 extends the services of DTL1 from Bugis station to Bukit Panjang, with connections to Circle Line (CCL), North East Line (NEL) and North South Line (NSL).

Circle Line MRT: Bartley to Marymount

The first phase of Circle Line MRT is open to Singapore public. The 5.7km long stretch of Circle Line MRT starts from Bartley station and ends at Marymount station. The remaining 24 stations in the Circle Line is expected to progressively commence operations from next year. The Circle Line covers about 33.3km length in total.

The following is the list of five stations that will be in operation:

CC12 - Bartley MRT Station
CC13 - Serangoon MRT station
CC14 - Lorong Chuan MRT station
CC15 - Bishan MRT station
CC16 - Marymount MRT station

Out of the five stations, two stations will be interchange stations. Serangoon will connect Circle Line passengers to North East Line while Bishan will connect Circle Line to North South Line.

The opening of these five stations will reduce travelling time for public. For example, travel from Bishan to Serangoon could take only 4 minutes compared to about 16 minutes if you take a bus. The new stations will generally help people changing over from North East Line to North South Line and vice versa.

COE prices bounce back

COE (Certificate of Entitlement) prices for Category A bounced back from the low of $2 in the previous bidding. When the tender closed for December 2008 1st Open Bidding Exercise on 03 Dec 2008 16:00 hrs, the COE prices for the Category A vehicles went up to $7,721.

Latest COE Prices (for information only):
Category A: The available quota of COE for Category A, Cars (1600cc & below) and Taxi, is 1840. There were, in total, 3149 bids when the tender closed. The tender closed at S$7,721. The increase in COE and the number of bids is attributed to the sudden increase in the interest shown by car buyers due to the previous $2 COE.

Category B: 1411 bids were received for the available quota of 1100 cars (above 1600 cc) in category B. The bid closed at $6501.

Category C: 374 bids were received at COE price of $5212 for a quota of 267 Goods vehicle & bus

Category D: The COE for motorcycles finished at $1102. Quota - 414; Bids received - 640

Category E: The Open category closed at $7589. Quota - 761; Bids - 1337
