Penta-Ocean gets MCE Contract 485

Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE)
MCE is the latest expressway that will be added to the road network of Singapore. MCE will become the tenth expressway to be constructed in Singapore. The other nine expressways existing in Singapore are as follows:
  1. PIE (Pan Island Expressway),
  2. ECP (East Coast Parkway),
  3. AYE (Ayer Rajah Expressway),
  4. CTE (Central Expressway),
  5. TPE (Tampines Expressway),
  6. SLE (Seletar Expressway),
  7. KJE (Kranji Expressway),
  8. BKE (Bukit Timah Expressway) and
  9. KPE (Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway)
The MCE is one of many important initiatives to expand Singapore's land transport network into the Marina Bay area. MCE is expected to be about 5 km long, serving as a strategic east-west transport link between the KPE, the ECP and the AYE, with direct connections to the Marina South and Straits View areas.

Contract 485
The scope of Contract 485 includes the design, construction and completion of 700m of dual 5-lane vehicular tunnel structure, of which approximately 420m is below the Marina Bay Crossing. The contract is awarded to Penta-Ocean Construction Co. Ltd at a sum of $669.7 million, as per the news release on LTA's website. Construction works for the MCE are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2009.
